Standard RetroArch can be gotten from 'TheOtherGuys' Github. But oh well :) As for other games: it always depends on the game of course but by the looks of it the only other game I know that uses it is Rendering Ranger R2 and that one crashes Canoe anyway as of now.Big changes today:) NEO Changes are merged into the RetroArch in my Core Set. Like the lower part was intended but the upper is the actual area you weren't meant to see. You don't really need it and it's looking quite garbled actually. I for my part wonder why they didn't choose to cut the upper part instead. Some people probably don't even know the game displays slightly more when in overscan mode. That's how most PC emulators display it as well unless you force the rare overscan mode. In short: it may look cut-off but it isn't. I personally enjoy it most without overscan as that's also how most emulators show it anyway. Or you leave it as it is and disable borders, you won't notice it not being centered that much that way. It will be centered and showing everything but will not fill the complete frame/border and also stick out vertically. That way the game will never go into 4:3 mode while still using the CRT filter just fine. If you absolutely don't want to loose anything from the overscan picture, you can try adding -pixel-perfect at the end of your game's command line parameters in hakchi2. But most other games do not use that mode and the Mini is clearly built to utilise non-overscan modes exclusively. Tetris is more of a "vertical game" so it made sense to make use of all vertical space they could get. If your screen could display it, it would have probably shown a bit more. It was probably made that way back in the day to make maximum use of CRT displays. Here is how emulators display it (actual screenshot from Mobygames):Īnd here is what it would look like if overscan is forced: Īs you can see both shots show the full play area. But overscan "off" is certainly the way the SNES Mini is intended and the gameplay is not affected in any way (the main screen where the tetriminos appear is always full visible) ) Emulators do not seem to actually show it "all" unless you force them to, if that's possible. It's actually intended to look like that but probably displayed a bit more on original hardware used with a real CRT back in the day. No, the cut-off bottom looks the same on PC emulators such as higan/bsnes or snes9x. After that you can re-add the rom via hakchi2 (which will automatically convert it to an. Once you've done that, you will still have to open the rom in an hex editor, find the hex value "8d 33 21" and change it to "9c 33 21". Keep in mind to only use one of those, not both. Use a patcher such as "Lunar IPS" for the. bps file which can be found under the link I posted. Mario (USA).sfc", you could check the following to see if you're using the correct rom: If you use the US version of the game for the game (something like "Tetris & Dr. Use a clean, unheadered rom to apply the patch. This also works for other emulators such as on the PC and other systems! Remember that you will still have to change the 8d I meantioned to a 9c via hex editor. Mario! Now it's not only fitting the SNES Mini frame but the graphics are also centered properly. Update: u/Optiroc has created an even more advanced hack for Tetris & Dr. Rendering Ranger is currently crashing/displaying a black screen on the SNES Mini. Mario as well as Rendering Ranger R2 seem to actually use overscan. Change it to "9c 33 21" and the game will perfectly fit into the SNES Mini's frames next time you put it on the system! To change it, open the uncompressed rom in any hex editor and find the hex value "8d 33 21". Not many games use it but if they do, they won't work well with the vanilla filters and frames.īecause of that, some games may look like this when played on the built-in emulator: It was the overscan which this game uses/sets to "true". Mario not being centered/too large for the Classic Mini's borders. With the help of MathOnNapkins, optiroc and STARWING over at, I was able to find a solution to games like Tetris & Dr. Pilotwings (Europe): overscan occurs after you play a mission and seems to stay.

It's a shame this app isn't plugin capable.Serif Affinity Photo - No need for Photoshop. I'd like a sophisticated lens flare tool/filter in affinity but if it doesn't at least match or exceed LFS for me, there is no point and Affinity would be hard-pressed to match the level of sophistication LFS has in producing the light effects that LFS can. For me, that solution is Len Flare Studio (LFS) by Brainfever. If an app is lacking a feature, I find a solution until such time as that feature is eventually included in the app. I've never, used a lens flare brush because they are fixed and do not have the nuance and colour variegation (Chroma split) one would expect in a lens flare, if anything, I'd use an overlay so I have the colour information. Perhaps I’m the only one who prefers the much more fluid and user friendly experience of a dedicated lens flare tool. Which do you prefer, a fully encompassed and unified lens flare tool (with the extremely valuable preview option), or stumbling around with lens flare brushes and their inherent usability flaws? I’m curious to know if you’re happy with the segregated lens flare brushes from Affinity that don’t offer any preview on the canvas and make you back track on everything whilst trying to find the most appropriate flare? I understand where you’re coming from with the Photoshop lens flare tool. That could also be sacrificed two, three nights or a weekend for a picture! I keep reading, just like PS, I've never felt that way. I'm glad I don't have to work with the overpriced PS that's moving in the wrong direction. Weight issues and overeating represent complex medical issues that governments and scientists around the world are fighting to understand. Obviously, everybody will have something unique that works for them. There's something about building your own plan that existing apps and services don't really account for - at least for me, and my unique mentality around food. Having to make those calculations somehow contributes to the sense of participation, though, in a way I'm not really sure how to explain, even to myself. packaging more often lists calories per portion, which is far more friendly to this kind of method. Calculating calories has been a bit harder in Germany, since their packaging often lists calories per 100 grams, forcing me to do annoying calculations and weigh food out. I am most definitely an Excel novice, but I feel like my setup gives me a level of involvement that I feel some apps remove from the process. There are no doubt technical methods I could use to improve my spreadsheet, like creating a database of food that will do calculations for me. Excel even has a more granular diet plan template you can use, but it didn't give me the flexibility nor the weekly average tally I wanted to account for social events and cheat days. I think Microsoft Excel works for me because it feels like I created the project, and am fulfilling the project, using my own system and my own data. Weirdly, none of these kinds of apps or services has ever worked for me. I've tried a lot of dieting apps like Noom, for example, which encourage you to build habits using psychology. Source: Jez Corden / Windows Central (Image credit: Source: Jez Corden / Windows Central) What may otherwise seem like small changes do add up, contributing to a big overall difference.Įxcel has seen me steadily and gradually lose weight over the course of a year, to a point where I'm almost below 300 pounds for the first time in decades. Simple tactics like switching from bread to low-calorie crackers, or swapping out cheese for tuna on pasta has also helped immensely. It also helps me target calorie-sparse foods that are filling but contribute fewer calories overall to the average, such as lettuce and salad with a low-calorie dressing for flavor. This method allows me to account for "cheat days" like going out for a pizza and drinks with friends, because I can average out the extra calories by eating less the next few days, as I target around 1,200-1,500 daily average for the week. I've tried all of the restriction diets like keto and just found that none of them really worked for me. I could certainly do more exercise to increase the number of calories I can eat, sure, but this is what works for me, and has worked for me thus far. If I want to lose weight, I need to create a deficit that goes below 1,600 calories, which accounts for my relatively sedentary work-from-home lifestyle. I find that if I eat around 1,600 calories per day on a weekly rolling average, I will probably maintain my weight. Either way, actively counting and measuring helps you figure out where to create a deficit. Admittedly, for me, it has certainly been a bit more difficult to consistently lose weight without actively counting, so I may go back to counting again this week. Since Christmas, I've stopped tracking my food intake so aggressively because I'm trying to build up habits without having to log everything down. In the beginning, losing weight was incredibly easy, but as you can see from the chart, it dropped down a bit over time as my body got more used to the new diet plan, and the (fairly minimal) exercise I was doing.Įxcel has seen me steadily and gradually lose weight over the course of a year, to a point where I'm almost below 300 pounds for the first time in decades. The first time I was able to weigh myself was when I'd already dropped to 415 pounds (and when the scales stopped returning an error message for being too heavy). I also have a line graph at the top where I log my weight every Saturday for the past year, which offers an overview of my progress as soon as I open up the spreadsheet. The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas is a slow, but exciting revenge story. I try to read a classic each month, and this was an excellent choice. So, there's a lot that is unbelievable, and some of the language is a bit strange, but I think that's because it is translated from French. However, it was really a wonderful story. Obviously, not what I had expected based on what I recalled from the movie. I was totally taken aback by the very ending of the story. Near the end, it seemed to be over the top, and he realized it. I sort of felt badly for those who had wronged him, but they would always do something stupid and selfish, so that sorrow I felt from them dissipated pretty quickly. Dantes is such a kind, honorable person, you only want the best for him. I started out slowly, then read more and more the past couple of days (I'm on spring break). I saw the movie many years ago, but, honestly, there is much more to the story. I have heard that the unabridged is better, but will have to read THAT over the summer. I discovered, after I started reading this version, that it was the abridged version. I have been meaning to read this book for a few years and finally got around to it. I thought that this was a great book because it was complex and very descriptive. One thing I didn't like is how the story kept going off in completely different directions, but it all came together in the end. Eventually, he gets revenge, and he helps his friend reunite with his fiancee.Īt times, this book was a little confusing, but I really liked it.It kept me interested to see Edmond's cunning plan to get revenge unfold. This problem is resolved when he escapes and gains a massive fortune. He starts planning his revenge on his enemies, which involves a lot of thought and careful planning. He becomes the Count of Monte Cristo, and begins plotting his revenge on the people who got him sent to prison.Ī problem shown in this book is how Edmon Dantes is betrayed and thrown in prison. One day, he makes a daring escape and finds the hidden treasure. While in the prison, he meets an old man who tells him of a huge hidden treasure on the island of Monte Cristo. The main character is a sailor name Edmond Dantes, who is framed for a crime he didn't commit, and he is thrown in prison. The story takes place in France during the 1800's. I thought that this was an great and captivating story. You have to have patience and let the book do its magic. If you have watched the movie first as I did then please don't expect the revenge to be as small as it was in the movie. The middle part was kinda slow partly due to the introduction of so many new characters and their lives and because we don't immediately know the plans of Monte Cristo for them. Overall, I loved it, especially the first and last thirds as they were so so thrilling and I read them quite fast. I Wish Danglers too had finally found that it was Edmond who caused his ruin but actually he fleas before that. I wish Edmond had ended up with Mercedes as he does in the movie and I actually found myself feeling pity for the Villefort family. I was disappointed at first to read the different characters (there are many characters) which weren't in the movie and seemed irrelevant but actually they are completely relevant owing to the fact that the next 2 thirds of the book are nothing like the movie. The movie was merely a third of the book and although the basic plot was same, the vengeance that Edmond Dantes takes is quite different. It was not at all what I expected after watching the awesome movie. He became one of the leading authors of the French Romantic Movement, in Paris.
